The Top Five 7 Seat SUVs on the Market

When looking for seven passenger SUVs, there are so many makes and models to choose from that it can be overwhelming. A 7 seat SUV is perfect for a family vehicle as it can take kids from place to place, haul cargo, and serve as a great vacation vehicle. Here are five of the top seven passenger SUVs from 2010.

2010 Cadillac Escalade

MSRP: $62,495 – $86,680
Invoice: $58,433 – $81,046
MPG: City – 14/ Hwy – 20

The Cadillac Escalade is big; big power, big comfort, big on features, and just plain big! The Escalade is fully appointed with heated leather seats, automatic climate control, Bose sound system, and satellite navigation.

Even though the Escalade is one heavy vehicle, the 6.2 liter, V-8 provides plenty of acceleration and power. Most reviewers rate the Escalade as one of the best large SUVs on the market. Edmunds says, “we think the 2010 Cadillac Escalade is one of the better large luxury sport-utility vehicles out there.”

The 2010 Escalade has standard four wheel disc anti-lock brakes, StabiliTrac, GM’s stability control system, standard head curtain side airbags for all three rows, dual stage driver and front passenger airbags, and chest air bags for the front row seats. The Escalade does well in federal government crash tests.

2010 Infiniti QX56

MSRP: $56,700 – $59,800
Invoice: $52,327 – $55,181
MPG: City – 12/ Hwy – 18

The Infiniti QX56 is also a big vehicle that is powered by a 5.6 liter, V-8 and is rated to tow up to an astonishing 9000 lbs. If the price on the Infiniti is a bit out of reach, look at the Nissan Armada, a similar vehicle under the Nissan badge. The Armada sells for much less and is appointed nearly as well. The QX56 has good performance, excellent reliability ratings, and has so many standard features that a rear seat DVD entertainment system is the only available option.

Safety features include an electronic stability system, active front head restraints, an anti-lock braking system, and front-side curtain and side-impact air bags. The QX56 also does well in safety tests by the NHTSA ( National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) as it was given five stars for driver safety and four stars for front passenger safety. The Infiniti QX56 can haul the kids and the cargo in as much luxury as can be imagined and as safely as possible.

2010 Mazda CX-9

MSRP: $28,805 – $34,215
Invoice: $26,665 – $31,654
MPG: City -16/ Hwy – 22

Another 7 seat SUV that is worth a look is the 2010 Mazda CX-9. It is available in three trim levels, Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring. The Sport model is well equipped for an entry level model; it features ABS, stability control, three zone climate control, and front, rear, and third row head airbags. The 3.7 liter, V-6 engine is smaller than some in this class but it has enough power to provide plenty of acceleration.

The CX-9 earned five stars (the most possible) in both front and side crashes, and has a four star rollover rating. This Mazda SUV is packed with all the latest safety equipment, including an optional blind spot alert system. According to New Car Test Drive, “Mazda gets credit equipping even the least-expensive model with important safety equipment,”

2010 Mercedes Benz GL320

MSRP: $59,950 – $82,850
Invoice: $55,754 – $77,050

The Mercedes Benz GL320 offers an abundance of luxury and plenty of room for passengers and cargo. Most large SUVs are built on truck platforms; the GL320 is built on a car-based platform and offers s smooth ride. It cannot tow as much as some of the others nor tackle the off-road terrain, but it offers a full portion of comfort and style. The largest of the three different engines choices for the GL320 is a 5.5 liter, V-8.

This SUV comes with anti-lock disc brakes, electronic stability control, electronic traction control, and many other safety features. One feature that is new for 2010 is the Post Safe system, which unlocks the doors and shuts off the engine after a crash.

2010 Nissan Pathfinder
